There is a party game that is completely free of charge based on the former 1 vs. 100 show. It has basically the same game rules as the TV show and there is a different primetime game you can play every night. Sometimes there is actually an emcee, Chris Cashman, who talks during some intermissions. The rules of the game are simple, you can either be “The One”, “In the Mob”, or “The Crowd”. Chances are, you are always going to be in the crowd, but you do have a chance to get in “the mob”. If you are in the crowd, you are just like most of the other people, you can answer questions and get points for answering correctly and in a fast time. If you are chosen to be in “the mob” you are able to play against “the one” along with 99 other mob members. However, once you get a wrong answer, you are not able to participate with the rest of the mob, but just for your own personal points. If you are chosen as “the one”, you have to answer every question correctly, or you walk away with nothing. If you are not sure about a question, you can choose to trust the mob, trust the crowd, or trust the top 10 players. If you get it right, depending on how many mob members get it wrong, your prize goes up. The prize is Microsoft Points. It is a really fun game, but not something you can play for hours and hours. It is free to download from the Game Marketplace on the Xbox 360 and there is a schedule as to when games will be going on. Check it out!

One of the second games I bought for Xbox 360 is Halo 3: ODST. Like Modern Warfare 2, Halo 3: ODST has a pretty short campaign, but still very fun. The story is a prequel to the previous game, Halo 3. The main story of the game is that you land in this city being invaded by aliens and you have to trace down all the beacons left by one of your teammates. On the side you help your other teammates battle a whole group of aliens in a certain area. Towards the end you have to go find your captain in an underground part of the city and bring back an alien engineer with you and get off the planet. The controls took me a little longer to understand than Modern Warfare 2. This game also comes with a Halo 3 multiplayer disk so you can play on Xbox Live against your friends. Overall, it is a good buy and I highly recommend this game.

Today  I started playing Modern Warfare 2 for the Xbox 360 and I personally think it is a really good game. I beat the campaign mode already which took a few hours, but I pulled it off. The story this time around is really good. I liked Call of Duty Modern Warfare’s story, but I have to say Modern Warfare 2 tops it. Once you beat campaign mode, you can go to the Special Ops part of the game, which is sort of like a collection of “mini games”. I haven’t played it that much, but it is pretty fun. However, the multiplayer is not as good as Special Ops and the campaign. I think that when you spawn in the multiplayer mode, they group you way too close to each other, which isn’t always good in free-for-all mode. The overall game controls feel pretty good and are easy to get used too. I give this game a 9.5 out of 10.

Last week I was in the Apple Store looking around and I picked up the Apple Wireless Keyboard, which I was originally going to buy after Christmas, and bought it that day. It is such a small and compact keyboard, and it works very well for going over Bluetooth. It runs off of a battery, and it seems to be lasting a while because it has been on since about Wednesday when I got it, and it hasn’t even sucked up 10% of life yet. It is a nice sized keyboard and the absolute best keyboard I have ever owned. I will definitely keep using these Apple keyboards for the years to come. It is a little pricey, $69, but definitely worth every penny you invest in it.

I have been using Google Chrome as my default browser for about a week now. The official beta just recently came out for Mac, so I decided to give it a try. Even though it is still in the early stages of development, it is a really nice browser. It has a nice and simple interface, which is nice, but hopefully it will get more when comes to features. It does have themes, which are very nice, and hopefully there will be a wider variety of them later. It has only a few preferences, one of the most useful, in my opinion, would be the Privacy settings. The biggest reason why I picked Google Chrome as my default browser is its speed because it is one of the fastest browsers I have ever used. Since it is a beta, they have a good bit of bugs such as crashes, flash problems (not just because flash sucks), and problems loading pages sometimes. There are a lot more bugs than I have put here, but I am confident that Google will continue to fix these throughout the beta.

I never did appeal to the movie, “Taken”, when it was first released in theaters, but the other day we watched some of it in one of my classes and I had to get it and finish the movie. The general story line is that a former CIA officer’s 17 year old daughter is going to Europe to follow U2’s European Tour, but she tells her dad that she’s just going with her friend, Amanda, to Paris to explore museums and such. He eventually lets her go, but once she is there she gets taken by a group of Arab’s who basically have a slave trade of young girls where they addict them to drugs and make them prostitutes. The entire movie is the guy going to find and save his daughter. It is a REALLY good storyline and there is a lot of “but-kicking” action in this movie. If you like those kind of movies, I highly suggest you see this movie because it is definitely worth the money.

As some of you may not know, I am a very big Harry Potter fan. I have seen each of the current 6 movies on their release date and have loved them all. In July, the 6th installment came and was probably one of the most anticipated movies to date and is definitely one of my top 2 favorites. Yesterday, it came out on Blu-Ray and DVD and, of course, I went out and got it and watched it again to see what kind of things I may have missed when I originally saw it in theaters. The movie is definitely very well done and is a must-see for Harry Potter fans who may have not already seen it. They do leave some things out, but we can’t really do anything now can we? Other than that, one of the biggest complaints I hear from some people (I classify them as n00bs) is that there is barely any action. Well, my answer to them is: Read the BOOK! Maybe after that you will understand why there is no action. Anyways, I hope most of you enjoyed this movie. Like I said this is probably my second favorite film, whilst my first still remains to be the Goblet of Fire. I am definitely looking forward to the next 2 installments, Deathly Hallows Part 1 & 2.

A little less than a month ago, I bought a domain to try to get an IRC network community together. Last week or the week before, I opened the network. I call it, The Geek Place. It is still quite small, but there is always room for expansion, which takes time. We only have 2 staff members, myself and Dom, and only 1 server linked to us. They are all running great and we do have a few users on there that we know from other IRC networks, which is great. On Black Friday, GameStop had a really good deal where you could bring in 2 Wii, Xbox 360 or PS3 games to trade in and get the New Super Mario Bros. Wii game for only $9.99. Of course, I’ll get anything I want when I can get it for a deal. So for the past few days I have been playing it and it is an EXCELLENT game. I have been a fan of the Mario series ever since I started gaming and this has to be one of the best Mario games ever made. The graphics are great, the gameplay is awesome and old school difficult, which is something I like. After the first world, it gets really “old school” difficult, which is something I think makes the Mario game so fun. If you just have a game that you can fly through, then it isn’t that fun, but if you have some kind of difficulty with it, then it’s fun. I strongly suggest any fan of the Mario series go out and get this game and post a comment here or send me an email about what you think.

I always did like the Pokemon games for the GameBoy and the Nintendo DS, but I had not played any Pokemon games in a while since I sort of grown away from it. However, earlier last week I kept hearing about a WiiWare game called Pokemon Rumble, so I decided to get the game and try it out. I immediately got addicted to that game because, for some reason, it is a really fun game. Basically, you start out with a Pokemon and you go to all of these different zones and defeat Pokemon there and possibly befriend them to be part of your team. Once you get Pokemon of a certain level, you can go in and play in the Battle Royale which is a whole bunch of Pokemon to fight at once. This is a really fun game, and if you are a Pokemon fan, you should try it out from the demo on WiiWare. The full version of it is 1500 Wii points.
